Ad: The Body Shop's Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash Review

Hello dear readers! I know beauty is not my usual segment, and is usually covered by Lina, but I simply have to share my experience using Body Shop's tea tree facial cleanser. Ok so I was happy with my Garnier Aqua Defense cleanser; I had been using it for a few years now. Before that I was using Pond's but was feeling that I could do better. Anyway, Body Shop had a sale a few months ago and there were a lot of amazing deals. I usually try not to give in to this urge to shop, and I almost made it too, if I hadn't seen the cleanser! They were selling a small bottle of the tea tree cleanser for RM3 or RM4! I just could not resist.

Plus, Far had been raving about the miracles of tea tree oil for quite a while. I figured since it was on sale, it was the best time to give this tea tree stuff a try. At first, I had mixed feelings about. I suppose it's because I had never used a gel-based cleanser before, so I wasn't used to its texture. However, I did like the cooling effect it left on my skin when I was applying it to my face, and then washing it off. It was just very different from Garnier and Pond's. I was also probably unsure about it because I had high expectations of this product haha. I sort of had this smug expression of "that's it? that's all you can do?" after I first tried it.

After that I rationalised that miracles don't happen immediately, that I should continue using it for a period of time and see the results then. Thus, I continued using it every other day or so (I know it's horrible of me, but I don't cleanse my face every day! I tend to skip a day or two sometimes) and just recently, I realised that I had almost finished the bottle! I also realised that I loved how my skin is now just right - not too oily, not too dry. I decided to give my Garnier another shot and it only made my face feel dry and a bit too stiff for my liking. I guess we are satisfied with what product we use and the effects it has on our skin only until we find something better! I've read enough skin care articles to know for a fact that the reason our face becomes too oily is because certain skincare products take too much oil away from our skin. Our body produces oil because our skin needs it. If a product you're using gets rid of all that oil, that signals the body to produce more oil to replace it, and this is exactly the cause of imbalanced skin.

Now that I use this product regularly, I can feel that my face doesn't get as oily as it used to get. I remember when I was using Pond's or Garnier, by evening my face would start to feel oily. But right now, even as it is almost midnight, my face still feels normal and not oily! Amazing! However, bear in mind that I'm not saying that this cleanser will work for everyone. I'm sure you know that everyone has different skin types - I'm just lucky that this product works for me :) I know it's a little pricey, RM39 for 250ml, but I've been using that small bottle for months (I can't remember how many millilitres it is, but it's a really small bottle!) so I'm sure the 250ml bottle can last pretty long. More importantly, my skin has never felt better, and that's all we really want right? :) I really hope this review has been helpful. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a comment and I promise I'll answer when I can! Take care everyone!
